Greetings friends. Thanks again for your interest in our Ethiopian gospel work. This begins my third trip to Ethiopia.
I began my trip to Addis Ababa on January 16 from DFW airport. I met my 3 travel companions, Ryan and Ayden Harrison, and Rachele Usrey there without incident. If you read my blog last year, you know it was a huge relief to not be traveling alone this year. All 3 of them are from the San Antonio area and worship together with the University Oaks church. Ryan has been with me on my previous trips but this is the first time coming for both the ladies. We are excited to have these women with us to help teach the women and children.
Our trip consisted of two flights: a long leg from DFW to Doha, Qatar (14.5 hours), and a short leg from Doha to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (4.5 hours). We arrived in Addis around midnight local time without any incident. No broken zippers, no missing luggage, and and everyone here together… another welcome change from last year!
We are thankful to God and looking forward to rest. For those new to the blog, Addis is the capitol of Ethiopia and is located near the center of the country. We will return to this city on the end of our trip but for now it is just a quick stop. We took rest at the Best Western for a few hours to prepare for travel day. We plan to make our way south to Hosanna, which will be our base for the next two weeks.
As I write this, I’m drinking my first (of many) macchiatos, excited to begin this work. We have prepared ourselves but we trust that God will direct our work, for his glory. We ask for courage, clarity and opportunity as we serve Jesus in Ethiopia.
